That's all true, but the Republican Party didn't become toxic to Blacks until the 1960's lest we forget that Ike carried the Black vote in 1956 and Nixon got 32% in 1960. Before FDR, Black folks were yellow-dog Republicans. During the FDR, Truman and Ike years, they voted similar to the rest of the nation. After Goldwater, they became yellow-dog Democrats.

EDIT: Before the Civil Rights Movement, White Southerners were more devoted to the Democratic than Black folks today. FDR got 99% of the vote in South Carolina and 87% in Mississippi.
