I think the common sense answer to "army fatigues" is more along the lines of the SWAT units.
I personally don't know why officers wear a dress style uniform for street work anyway. It not practical. With a gun belt, the stuff on the belt gets in the way of those front pockets so those becomes useless.
Plus polyester just seems like it would be stupidly hot in the summer

Not referring to swat units... I seen 2 APD officers pull up in their crown Vics to a business yesterday wearing green camo army fatigue style pants. Not a freaking tree around and these guys are wearing camo. Why
