Two peas in a pod. You're always welcome here as long as you play like we do.

Well I really hope we see some shakeup on Wednesday. Random thoughts/ideas:

I think we need to start with shoring up our defense and getting back to pressing. I say Lucas on for Gerrard and possibly even playing a double pivot with him and Can. Allen wasn't bad today, but I would go with the bigger, more physical pair in front of the back 4.

Ahead of them, I wouldn't mind seeing Henderson (if he's healthy) in his old AM role he played early last season and two years ago. No, he's not the most creative player, but he moves without the ball into space, and he would help with the pressing and give us an engine we sorely need in the middle of the field.

Kolo should play. If Sakho's healthy, he should partner. Otherwise it's kind of a tossup who the second CB should be. I'd be ok with Lovren playing with Kolo because they would be more comfortable playing a high line and hopefully Lovren would play better with true DM coverage, but Skrtel and Kolo looked good together against Madrid. Moreno and Manquillo at fullbacks but they have to be smarter pushing forward and tighter in possession.

Front 3, I'd go with Coutinho and Lallana right behind the striker just because they're some of our more creative attackers that are willing to move without the ball and would help connect the midfield with attack.

At striker, does it really matter? But seriously, Sterling looked good with the others in a smaller, interchanging front 3, but he's played so damn much and been a little underwhelming that I would probably sit him, partly as an ego check too. I'd also almost want to reward Lambert with that goal from today, but he can't play as a lone striker with this lineup, so I go with Borini. He'll work hard on defense, provide more on the counter, and he knows how to move without the ball while not running in cement shoes (sorry Rickie) and I assume Balotelli won't be fit. I know we all want to see 2 strikers, but I figure this is at least a little realistic since Brendan won't do it while also putting out a group that should be able to press and defend better front to back.

Just wanted to at least provide a little discussion because there's not much else that can be done or said right now other than what we're doing has been a massive failure. Anybody else got any ideas?

There are a few parallels in the two teams... specifically, the underachieving and both managers refusal to address defensive needs, despite having the funds to do so this summer..

I realize AW is at a different place in his career than BR... I'm not trying to put him on Arsene's level... just over the past 12 months or so..

Sterling needs to sit, he's done absolutely nothing for a few months now.

Lallana needs to play centrally.

Coutinho may need to sit. His passes haven't been able to unlock even an open gate yet this year.

Gerrard needs to sit.

Lambert needs to play for Swag.

Completely shake up the back four - Toure had a pretty good performance and doesnt see the pitch since? Meanwhile Skrytel is clueless?

All January money to a DM. Could have had Alex Song or anyone in the fall, but decided that we didn't need anyone there.

3 goals to a bad Palace team. Thats horrid.

BR has about month, but only if he gets a result in the next two weeks. Coaches find ways even with their best players out.
