I can understand mentioning the Fabragas one,

I'm sure you can, it was an obvious foul.

but including Oscar's dive in that just makes it hilarious

It shouldn't have been a penalty due to the circumstances of where Oscar was in the box and not really in a threatening position, and I'm sure Oscar went down easy, but it was undoubtedly contact in the box. Certainly would have been no less ridiculous than Ivanovic being sent off.

Agree to disagree. It was hardly obvious. It looked like Fabregas was looking for contact, from the way he swandove like he was expecting contact. LINK

It was right in front of the referee and it was frankly embarrassing. It wasn't a foul outside the box nor in it. The fact that there were no protestations from Cesc should immediately tell you he was trying to pull a fast one on the ref. He even smiled wryly at Santi after the incident. Given your views on diving I'm honestly surprised you are taking this position.

The first Oscar incident wasn't a foul either. LINK

First it looks like a dive because the contact was incidental and caused Oscar to trip over himself. Not a foul.

The only clear cut foul and penalty was the Oscar/Ospina one. None of the handballs. The yellows Ivanovic and Coquelin earned were doing the same exact thing, trying to impose physicality on the opposition's best player, a tactic I'm surprised anyone actually has a problem with, as it worked for both teams. Hazard was quiet and Sanchez kept going down expecting fouls just by mere contact after Ivanovic's first hard tackle, which was ridiculous.

Even then both teams should have done better from the chances they created. Ramires did poorly when he was through from Willian, and Ozil, Mertesacker, and Sanchez (numerous times) scuffed goalmouth opportunities, which you just can't do.

Contact =/= foul. That was a pathetic dive when he got touched on the shoulder.

Cesc's, I haven't seen a conclusive angle, but he was looking to go down, for certain. Had it been called a penalty I don't think I'd have blamed the ref. Santi sticking his leg out wasn't smart. Glad he was able to pull it back, at least in the ref's estimation.

Chelsea is 10 points clear and in the driver's seat for the title and here's Randy, in the Arsenal thread, still trying to prove just how right he is on literally everything.

Life must be nice for, Randy
