you're the moron pretty much
i will concede that on certain onramps the lights are too close to the merge area, not giving them enough time to accelerate
but generally the lights are operating during peak flow, when the speed is not really 70mph

We don't have these in Alabama, but in my Jeep I need every last inch of on-ramp to get through the gears and up to 70. I'm usually flooring it in 3rd gear until I hit about 60 then shift it into 4th and merge.
