BATON ROUGE - One person has died and at least another adult and child have been injured after a pickup drove off the I-10 overpass in a busy part of the Garden District Friday evening.
"We thought it was fireworks," a witness told WBRZ News 2 anchor Sylvia Weatherspoon. But, she then saw it was a vehicle and called 911.
Witnesses said it appears the tuck was traveling eastbound on the raised part of the interstate, crossed all lanes and toppled over the opening divide between both sides of I-10. The red truck landed in a parking lot between Ivar's and ZeeZee's Gardens.
It is believed the vehicle was cut off of traffic and the driver drove off the interstate.
"The driver's side was crushed," another witness told WBRZ News 2 anchor Michael Marsh.

there's almost definitely fatalities.
An adult would be fricked in that wreck. We don't know what other impacts were involved but landing on your roof like that would pile drive you into the ground, possibly collapsing on you enough to crush your spine.
A kid in a booster seat and especially in an infant seat would likely survive.
