Of course, the middle ground is the best, someone who incorporates both into their regime, but you see a good bit of both ends of the spectrum: those who only run vs. those who only lift.

In the long run (ha!), which will lead to a more healthier lifestyle? We all know who will get laid more and it ain't twig boy.

..oh.. and:

Both are important but the cardio doesn't have to be just running. I find running terribly boring but I get my cardio in playing vball, bball, climbing, hiking, etc.

Running does not offer any PROVEN health benefits over lifting weights and the risk of injury is high. Running is not healthy compared to a properly executed weight-lifting program.

Healthier lifestyle?

The runner, not only due to the workout regiments, but because of the additional supplements guys in the gym usually use.

All of my major injuries have been running sports related: ACL tear, broken ankle and torn calf.

I've never gotten hurt lifting weights that required significant down time.

Running short distances at a faster rate (HIIT), has superior benefits to running miles and miles at a steady rate.

please keep anecdotal evidence out of any serious conversation.

I said "properly executed" for a reason. Just because you threw around too much weight does not mean that lifting weights is dangerous, only that you did not properly execute that particular lift. If one maintains proper form during weight-lifting, the risk of injury is very low. Also, repetitive movements like running are known to cause long-term negative effects such as arthritis and other degenerative issues.

So you, sir, can kindly get the frick out unless you want to bring some actual discussion instead of personal anecdotes.

Lifting. People don't seem to understand you can get an excellent cardio workout through resistance training.

I've had none of those.

The only significant gym injury was dumbbell shoulder press. Last few reps and came down with the dumbbell wrong tweaked something in my shoulder. Had an ongoing issue with it for about 3 years.
