he might be on to something, is there a stream, or creek, or an artesian well in the vicinity, my dad was a contractor as well, and he was pretty good at this sort of thing

Still, it seems like one of those things that sounds really cool in theory, but in reality it goes like this...

"Did you build a pond in your backyard?"

"No, that's my natural pool. Wanna go for a swim?"

"...Nah, I'm good."

he's a grown man, let him dig a hole and fill with water and plants. The cottonmouths and mosquitoes will thank him
