Suggestions on Noise-canceling Headphones

Looking for a pair of noise-canceling headphones. These will be used for travel primarily. Would like Bluetooth but not a deal breaker if the wired sound better or are cheaper. I prefer over the ear.
If anyone has suggestions on various headphones under $300 it would be much appreciated.

The Bose QuietComfort are extremely comfortable and sound amazing. They are right at $300 I believe.

I have Sennheiser M550s...they are very nice. There is a newer model than mine as I got mine about two years ago. They are Bluetooth headsets which is a major plus...very few reliable Bluetooth models with good sound quality on the market (including Bose).
I expect 90% of responses to say Bose QC15s

1) evaluate your actual need for noise-canceling, realising it adds nothing to the sound and costs both more money and batteries forever, and that since you prefer over-the-ear cans, you do get a fair bit of shutting the outside world out.
2) inner fidelity'a wall of fame is a great place to start. They've got reviews apart from the wall of fame as well. You can also scroll down and check out different classes (wireless, over the ear, sealed, in-ear, etc)
3) good luck.

I love mine. Get ready for people to come on here and tell you how much Bose sucks/doesn't reproduce highs or lows well/is overpriced/you're an idiot for buying them.

Form what I read before I bought mine the Bose QC headphones have the best noise canceling but there are cheaper headphones that have better sound. So it depends on what is important to you. I wanted great noise canceling so I bought the QC20i's. I'm really enjoying them.

Like Hopeful Doc said, make sure you really need noise canceling. If you're flying in a Cessna, you definitely will need it. Bose has the best Noise Canceling tech.

They offer the best noise canceling available, and sound decent to boot. I make this pick based on the reviews and opinions of the top headphone reviewers, plus having reviewed the QC15s and its competitors myself.
Who am I? I’ve been reviewing audio for over a decade for a number of magazines and websites. But to help me nail this pick, I also interviewed several of the top headphone reviewers around. Steve Guttenberg is one of the most respected audio reviewers in any medium, having written for Home Theater, Home Entertainment, Stereophile, as well as his own blog at CNET called The Audiophiliac. Tyll Hertsens is editor in chief of InnerFidelity, a sister site to Stereophile, and does some of the most extensive headphone testing out there. Brent Butterworth was editor in chief of Home Theater, Home Entertainment, and is currently West Coast tech editor of Sound+Vision magazine. He does some of the most comprehensive headphone testing on the web, so much so that several headphone manufacturers have come to him to see how to do it. These are the experts I generally talk with about gear.
First, if you’re curious how noise-canceling headphones work, I recommend reading this article from HowStuffWorks.
“The QC15s have what’s probably the best noise cancellation of any NC headphone on the market.”
There are two main factors to consider when buying noise-canceling headphones: how well they cancel out the noise, and how they sound overall. Subjectively and objectively, the QC15s offer the best noise canceling out there. Butterworth agrees, saying: “The QC15s have what’s probably the best noise cancellation of any NC headphone on the market.” Hertsens had a similar opinion: “[the QC15’s] noise canceling capability is extraordinary.” Guttenberg: “If you’re looking for the best noise-canceling headphone, the Bose QC15 is the one to buy.”

Shitty highs?
Terrible lows?
Must be a Bose....

I lucked into an error by best buy. I used 80 dollars in rewards certificates and bought a pair of Logitech headphones. I took those headphones back because I liked the feel of the Bose headphones more. They credited the whole amount back to me, and then said I had 80 dollars in reward certificates to use. So I paid 100 bucks for my QC15
I love the QC15. They fit my ears perfectly. They sound decent, and the noise cancellation is great.
