I have this class next semester. I've heard good things about Darrat but don't see him available AP1 or AP2. How much time would you say you put into this course per week? I'm doubling this course up with FIN701 w/Vines.

He changes the course up, so keep that in mind, but this was roughly how long I spent per week:
1: 5-8 hours (text reading, video lectures, test)
2: 25-30 hours (research paper, text reading, video lectures, test)
3: 10-15 hours (text reading, video lectures, test)
4: 25-30 hours (research paper, video lectures, test)
5: 15 hours (video lectures, test, open-book quiz)
6: 25-30 hours (research paper, video lectures, test)
7: 10 hours (open book quiz)
I completely stopped reading the textbook at a certain point because it was useless. He teaches and tests on his own flavor of marketing so learning from a textbook is counter-intuitive. His lectures are only 1-1.5 hours but it would take me 2.5-3 hours because I had to write specific notes that I could study from. Studying also took a lot of time because memorizing definitions was useless - you need to understand the concept and be able to apply that concept to a business question with five answer selections.
This is NOT an easy class. I can tell you that I was pissed off one way or another every single weekend and I'm not sure a class like FIN should be doubled up with this (though I haven't taken it, just from what I've read). His tests are awfully worded and I never felt like I was "prepared", even after hours of studying.
Keep in mind, this is just my experience. I'm sure other people fared better than I did.
