REVIEW: FIN 701 with Dr. Kim
First off, the class is Finance. It's going to be tough for most people no matter who your instructor is. Just know that going in.
Secondly, Dr. Kim was fair and very quick to respond to direct questions via email as well as on the Discussion board. I get the feeling that he wants you to learn the material. He breaks down the problems very well and I have seen him answer/review the same question multiple times for people who are having trouble.
Your week will consist of 1-2 lecture videos, review PPTs on your own and review the Practice Problems. He says that if you do well on the practice problems, you'll do fine on the test. He's correct. I recommend printing the PPT slides and then watching the lectures as the lecture is on the PPT material. That way you can follow along and write down his exact examples/solutions of the problems that you will be facing.
Weekly tests, due on Sundays.
Does offer curves on some tests, but no more than 3 points. Still, I'll take it.
He does have a slight accent, but it doesn't get in the way at all. I only bring this up because I had to drop a math class years ago because English was not the instructor's first language and if there is a class that you need to communicate in, it's anything math-oriented, IMO.
Overall, I enjoyed the class with him. I will say that this graduate level Finance class was way more enjoyable than my undergraduate Finance class just because of Dr. Kim's teaching approach.
This review is just my opinion of my experience in the class. Others may/will have a different story to tell.

Hi everyone! I'm considering LSUS online MBA and starting in the fall. I've owned a business for 5 years but no business undergrad degree, so have a few questions. I've honestly been also admitted to Baylor's online MBA as well, and trying to decide which program I want to do.
Are the foundation classes necessary? Anyone who had a degree other than business not take them and still able to do well? At Baylor, they're mandatory.
How many hours/week does it really take you for each class? The advisor is saying 15-20, but would like some feedback from actual students.
Thanks so much!!
