Yeah it is getting a bit ridiculous in ISDS 710. There are so many questions that weren't addressed in the syllabus. My background is in application development and most "programming" courses are self taught to an extent due to the nature of the content. Practicing in an IDE (RStudio for us) is the best way to test code. You're not going to get it on the first try. It is all logic and flow. However, for someone who is not used to that and has a different background as most of the people in the course do, Darrat should have started the class with a weekly zoom session or a pre-recorded lecture showing how it is being done.

There are a lot of additional resources that help, but we are in a class with a designated professor for a reason. We should be taught the concepts before applying them in practice. It is hard to grasp the syntax on a language if you dont know what the "words" mean. Its like attempting to speak proper English without knowing what vers, adj, modifiers, etc. are. You can't apply it if you don't know the meaning of the basics. With this being the first time most of the class has been exposed to code, it is not exactly beginner friendly.

Another reason I think there is a lot of confusion is because the text book does NOT match the datacamp exercises. We are assigned a chapter in the book on one thing and practice another. Both aids have different approaches to learning are, which is confusing in a class were everything should be synced.

I guess we will see how this session goes *cue sad violin music*
