Help - iphone 5 got wet, now what...

...OK, iphone 5 submerged about about 20 minutes yesterday, it had a lifebox thing on it, but it still got wet. I took it out of the case to let it dry out. The phone felt very hot to the touch immediately after taking it out of the water. took it out, looked up what to do on you tube, took out the sim card, put them both in a bag of rice, left it there for several hours, tried to plug it into the charger, when i did, is heard a hissing sound near where the charger inserted, it then took the iphone off the charger and put it back in the bag of rice and left it there overnight.
And here i am now, what do i need to do now.
This phone is my office, Im trying anything I can do to keep all the info on it, i did not have it connected to the cloud as far as I know.
Any help is appreciacted,
TIA

bury it in rice for 48 hours

My wife dropped her Note 3 in the tub. Put it in rice for 72 hours, though. Maybe it was 48. Anyways, the phone runs like a champ. Not even a hiccup.

Leave it in rice for a day or two and turn it back on. I've done it twice and worked both times.

Agree with the rice. If it can be salvaged this is the only way to do it.

You tried to plug it in too early. I think it's fried.
