The problem lies with those like yourself who believe that one must choose between science or religion when they are merely two sides of the same coin. Religion is the reason, science is merely the mechanism. The laws of nature are the mechanisms of God through which he made and governed his creation. You ridicule a creation myth when astrophysics itself necessitates a "moment of creation". You meekly assert that that moment of creation was arbitrary rather than necessitated by any outside force. However, every action must have a reaction. There can be no beginning without an end. There can be no moment of creation without a cause to "begin" it. Those who believe that that cause is "God" have no better or worse theory than does Stephen Hawking or Neil de Grasse Tyson.

The sad thing is Stan Marsh from South Park has a greater and more profound understanding of this concept than you do in saying "Can't science be the answer to how and religion the answer to why?"

Of course, that episode illustrated the philosophy that far too many people embrace with their full being, that the only thing that matters isn't just being right, you also have to be a huge dick about it to everyone who doesn't agree with you.

I never jump in the religion/science arguments - it's pointless - we understand way less than 4% of what the universe is made of
