Federation Ranking (through completed games) - CONCACAF doing well

*Note: I did all calculations myself. If some are off, it is because I am not a math guru. Just tell me what it should be in the thread and I'll fix it.
*Note: points per team is calculated by summing the points from all teams in a federation and dividing by the total # of teams in the federation. Teams that have only played one game were counted as .5 teams for this metric.
*Note: Edited so that Australia included with Asia. Thanks for the correction.
RK NAME RECORD(W-L-D) WIN% PPT
1 CONMEBOL (South America) 8-3-1 .708 4.17
2 CONCACAF (N & C America) 4-2-1 .643 3.71
3 UEFA (Europe) 9-11-3 .457 2.61
4 CAF (Africa) 2-5-2 .333 1.78
5 AFC (Asia) 0-4-3 .214 0.86
First of all, the winning percentage and points per team metrics track pretty well together, and that is because they are based on the same thing (winning).
Second, CONCACAF is kicking arse. If Honduras would stop sucking CONCACAF might have the top spot!
Third, Europe and Africa are struggling, on the whole. The only two European teams to win their first two games (so far) are the Netherlands and France. The African banner is (believe it or not) being carried by Nigeria (4 pts). Ghana and Ivory Coast seem to be trying to out-underperform each other.
Fourth, Asia ... WTF winless.
Depends on how the later rounds play out, but this World Cup could be an "American" dominated affair, in the larger sense of the word American, of course.

Australia competes as part of Asia, just FYI.

Somehow I didn't realize this. Let me fix it.

Did you count the games where a team from one federation plays another team from the same federation(i.e. Portugal-Germany)?

I did. Not sure how to handle those games.

I don't think those should count. Those would hurt winning percentages for some of the larger federation.

I've seen where some people just throw them out
I think that your winning% is off, but it's close enough

Give me a few minutes and I'll try it.

Just recalculated. The problem of teams from a the same federation playing one another appears to only apply to Europe. European teams have played against one another four times (Spain/Netherlands; Italy/England; France/Switzerland; Germany/Portugal)
Their adjusted record (W-L-D) is 5-7-3, with a win % of .433 and ppt of 2.25.
They would still be in 2nd place but their numbers are a bit lower.
