Need help choosing a monitor

I'm looking for a monitor for about $250 or less. I will be using it as a computer monitor for gaming and video editing for the next few months. I will be moving into a new apartment in a few months with my friend and will have a gaming setup in the living room. This monitor would then move to my personal room and be used for the same thing, but will also be used as a TV for either my old PS3 or a Playstation TV/some other type of "micro-console."
I have done some research and found the ASUS PA248Q. It's a little out of my price range at $290. So, would it be better to get a used one from Amazon for $250 or look into cheaper alternatives? There are a couple Dells I found that would make a great monitor but I will eventually need the HDMI input that they lack.
I also looked into the Playstation 3D Display because it has an HDMI input, but it has very mixed reviews. Plus, I could only really afford a refurbished one (which I'm not super sure about because of all the problems). Also, I don't plan on using 3D, but the built in speakers would make it nice so I wouldn't have to get speakers until I wanted to invest in high quality ones.
I can wait a couple months and afford something better and more expensive, too. After all, I don't NEED it right now.
With all that said, do you guys have an opinion on what I should do or have recommendations for other monitors in my price range?
Writing this out makes me just want to wait so I can afford the ASUS or something nicer though lol. Anyway, Thank you. I really appreciate any advice.

I've had two Asus monitors and love them. I have an Asus and Viewsonice side by side now and the Asus >>>>>>>>> ViewSonic.
I got the Viewsonice for free so that's why I have it
Have you checked Ebay or Microcenter?

I'd buy Blue's or Coyote's WQHD monitor.

I love Asus.
I also have a BenQ gaming monitor with 2 hdmi inputs.. well this bastard already has 1 dead pixel.. so I would not recommend them that is for sure..
My ASUS is flawless.
