What really intrigues me is that if we can ever get solar off the ground, central America's economy will blow up. Stupid cheap labor and stupid cheap energy should make for some fascinating times down there.

Solar works as a supplement and in residential use, but in its current state, it will never be able to support a large portion of base load.
The massive solar farms require a ton of O&M and arent as eco friendly as some like to believe it is.

I've worked with a couple of large solar companies on the west coast that are ramping up solar lease and PPA sales efforts in a big way. They are trying to install as many systems as possible while subsidies exist and large banks can still take advantage of them.
