Forty-three states, the District of Columbia, four territories, and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) have adopted the Common Core State Standards.

What does that say about the rest of the nation or about Louisiana? Maybe he knows something that no one else does. He always seems to think he's the smartest guy in the room.

Seems like he.just doesn't want LA mentioned for not meeting standards. Quiting the race so to speak but education can still improve without common core. I'm not total sure of its benefits and drawbacks. I would guess most of the "good" responses on here don't know either

My impression of common core (this past year I had an 8th grade child in the St. Tammany Public School system) is that the program is fine, but the implementation of it was poor. Teachers had too much ground to make up in a short time period, and some kids struggled as a result. My kid is smart, so no problems for him. But people like to throw out ridiculous examples (especially math problems) and say "this is common core" to give an unrealistic impression of what it's all about.
