It's not forced at all. In terms of international soccer, US/Mexico is one of the best.

I think it is a genuine rivalry, but there are a lot of USMNT fans who have psyched themselves into it. There are tons of relatively new soccer fans in the US, so this is pretty natural. I don't want to call them bandwagon fans, but the fact that we're a big country where soccer isn't prominent results in a lot of our "fan base" being pretty detached from the team itself.

Kinda like a diehard Bama fan in New England who has never been to an Iron Bowl or lived around Auburn fans but picks up hatred via YouTube videos and second hand accounts. That's what I mean by forced.

Yeah, riot cops guarding fans as they are led to a cage so they don't get maimed is really forced. GTFO. Both fan bases hate each other.

It's not forced at all.

Mexico hates us just as much.

Landon Donovan is literally one of the most hated men in Mexico.

There is nothing redeeming about Mexican soccer.

Their team is dirty and plays like thugs and drama queens.

Their fans are hostile, violent, and throw batteries at players.

Their stadium is a prison riot.

They are the worst.
