Don't want to be a dick, but I cut mine with wire cutters always. The holes are always gonna be bigger than the line.
I also spool one long string in a loop instead of cutting two separate pieces

Echo
I pull one string out as far as I can stretch my arms.
It goes in the hole and out the other side of the wead eater head. I make both sides equal. I spin the weed eater head till it is all wound up.
Can't be any easier. I edge my corner house and sidewalks with my Echo wead eater more than the Echo edger

Must be the cutters I was using. Always had problems, but it worked much better with the razor knife.
The head on mine is a dual feed, so it takes two lines.
