The Kiev Rus. Historically, they are intrinsically linked. It's irrelevant though. Austria/Germany. Seizing territories, especially post WWII and CW is incredibly alarming. Hitler didn't take all of Czechoslavakia. Just the outer portions with Germans populating the area, which was bullshite. He wanted the industrial plants and coal. They appeased him, then he took the rest.

I have and understand that Kiev was once the capital Russia, and all the other historical facts.

I didn't think so but it just threw me for a loop when you said ukraine but earlier was talking about Crimea that is all.
