And there isn't a legal motion the NBA lawyers can file that will stop Sterling from publicly exposing the owners as the hypocrites we all know they are.

The NBA didn't record and release the tapes of Sterling, a third party did. All the NBA cares about is protecting its image and it's finances. Once there was a large backlash against Sterling then there was a contractual violation.
And the NBA can certainly file motions to prevent Sterling from using the legal discovery process to fish for dirt on the other owners.
