They also said on NPR that out of the ~126 companies Uber is now in, not one single cab company has gone out of business. Sure, they've been forced to provide better service to compete..but they are not failing or anything due to it.

If anything, I think Uber would help because I can't tell you how often people call cabs and it just never comes or they get sick of waiting and leave. Luckily, I don't have that issue because I use the shite out of cabs, but I imagine it's frustrating.

When I first heard about Uber, I was not in support of it because I thought it was just an app for calling a cab. I did not want my loyalty as a customer to be thrown to the wayside because people can now use an app. But now that I'm learning it's a program where people can drive their own cars, I'm all about it. I might use it, might never touch it. But it would almost definitely make getting a cab easier for me and everyone else.
