Well, he doesn't seem to be a hot commodity right now and is rated fairly low. You'd think he would be a backup plan.
I wasn't trying to say he is one of the top prospects, I'm saying that right now is QB season, and their commitments tend to stick. Our in-state back-up plan just committed elsewere, and browsing both the PRO and DUEL pos rankings shows you that not only is this class thin at QB, there are only three guys on both lists combined rated at 4-star or higher who aren't committed. None of those three live anywhere close or have even mentioned LSU. We were gonna be taking a developmental guy in this class either way. Cam found one that fits what he likes and made the offer.
Wasting a scholly to fish for a receiver is dumb, and goes against this staff's track record. They wouldn't offer Cam Sims last year, knowing that it probably would have given them the top OT in the country in a year when we really needed one. They certainly aren't gonna play that game for a skill player, something LA has no issue producing.

There are always contingency plans. Greyshirt, etc. I think the guy is a good QB, but has a long way to go. Maybe he'll blow up this year.
Only Cam and Les know. Either the guy is extremely underrated or he's a pawn in the game. He may turn out to be legit.
