The point remains the same. Do we really think the city went from corrupt as frick to not so bad in 2 years? I'm certainly not ready to go there.

Do you have specific examples? I'm genuinely curious. I'm pretty familiar with the Nagin fiasco because of one of my business clients' alleged involvement. That entire mess was and is pretty well contained and limited. City Hall itself, as far as I can tell, has gotten a good scrubbing on the inside.

You'll find petty "corruption" in virtually every city of any size. I'm not saying it's acceptable by any means, but that's reality and it's mostly small potatoes. New Orleans certainly has a colorful history of corruption, but it's been dealt with pretty firmly in the last few years. And it absolutely has little or nothing to do with bad streets or broken street lights.
