Eminem hit it big in 1998. The cd came out in early 99 but slim shady was all over the radio in late 98.

Plus you had Dre, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie, Puff Daddy before he went crazy changing his name, Mase, Master P, Bone Thugs, and Ginuwine. Never underestimate Ginuwine. Pony is one of the best songs ever regardless of Genre.

And in other music, Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band hit it big. Hootie was the original Nickelback where there was huge popularity then a backlash. And the spice girls. Ahh, the lovely spice girls.

Movies were great. The Austin Powers movie got their start. And that is when special effects took off. Summer blockbusters were not some campy horror flick like in the 80s with Friday XIII and Freddie. Terminator movies were big.

And let's not forget the rise of the WCW/WWF. Monday nights were great.
