Texas Country/Red Dirt Country

As has been stated many many times modern "radio" country sucks arse.
Been really trying to expand to the Texas Country and Red Dirt Country genres and have found some good stuff like Turnpike Troubadors, CCR (Ragweed), Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue, and a lot of others.
Figured this would be a good place to come for some more suggestions.

You're on the right road my friend. Information is easy to find. Give it a listen and see if you like it.

Interesting list. But Luke Bryan as tier 1? Are we talking about old Luke Bryan I'm assuming.

That thread is still hilarious
For the OP:
Randy Rogers Band
Jason Eady
Jason Boland and the Stragglers
John Moreland
Jonny Burke
Hayes Call
Also, more Americana but still awesome:
John Fullbright
American Aquarium
Warren Hood (he and Fullbright both have pretty strong blues influences)

After reading through that thread I think I caught on to the hilarity of it

Will Hoge
William Clark Green
Dirty River Boys (their new album is a lot more rock and roll, but the first couple have some red dirt elements...more Americana, though)
Band of Heathens
Ryan Bingham
Sean McConnell
Jason Isbell
Reckless Kelly
Micky & the Motorcars
Rob Baird
Ben Danaher
Ryan Beaver
The Dedringers (broken up but my dude Jonny Burke used to be the front man and they put out some pretty good stuff)
Matt Powell (some of his stuff is a little bluesy but a bunch of TX country guys have recorded his songs...Bart Crow, Bleu Edmonson, etc)

Thoughts on Blackberry Smoke and Whiskey Myers?
Posted on 6/11/14 at 12:55 pm to Bluegrass_Cat
Not really a fan of either, to be honest. I guess if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with Whiskey Myers...although their live show sucks, but so does Blackberry Smoke's, and they're even more cheesy.

Just about any band with an alcohol or drug reference in the name is going to blow arse

Outside of Turnpike, I don't think anyone can hang with Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil and Wrinkle Neck Mules.
L Boogie's list is solid

Ray Wylie Hubbard
Guy Clark
John Slaughter - don't know much about his music, but a buddy of mine is in his band. I think he has a #1 song on Texas radio.

He and Jonny Burke are both opening for Turnpike in New Braunfels on July 5th. I can't WAIT for that show.

I have a Spotify station initially based on Reckless Kelly that has morphed with many of the names mentioned plus the Robisons (Bruce, Charlie).
"and if you ain't sang Everclear at a Roger Creager show, you ain't seen my Texas"
Cory Morrow? Randy Rogers? Casey Donahew? Robert Earl Keen?
L Boogie got me listening to Dirty River Boys quite a bit lately.
