I think you should look for more quality and less quantity.

Unless you just enjoy the extra hours of training, by mixing the paces and goals of your types of runs and other activities you can get better results in less time.

Two men were given an axe and sent to the top of a mountain with the goal is chopping down 1 tree exactly the same size with the winner being determined simply by who chopped it down the fastest. The first guy just went to work, chopping and chopping. Over and over again. A nice steady continual stroke taking out chunk after chunk. Through his efforts he noticed his competition sitting down taking a break every few minutes and he knew if he didn't take a break, he would win in a landslide....just don't empty the tank. Well, just as the first guy (constant chopper) was starting to see the end getting near, his competition shouted, "done.....TIMBER!!!!!" He couldn't believe he lost...he never took a break, never stopped and just kept it nice and steady the entire time. Afterwards when he asked the winner how he won while taking so many breaks the winner said, "I wasn't taking a break. I was sharpening my axe."
