Got a kid who fights calf cramps pretty regularly. Any advice?

There are studies all over the map on this one. Even some that will show it has nothing to do with hydration.

It's usually caused either by overexertion or some sort of nutrition issue. Increase hydration, increase sodium and electrolytes ( salt stick) and play with the variables until you find a solution or work with a professional and pay the $$$.

Unfortunately, when it comes to issues like this, there is no one size fits all answer.

4444, do you use salt sticks? How do you use yours? I seem to have calf cramps only during the race itself and not during training. SO I'm hesitant to experiment with them during training when there are no issues BUT I surely don't want to try them for the first time on race day.

Suggestions???
