Regarding his point about Jurgen saying we are not capable of winning the World Cup - We are not, plain and simple. Unless something really crazy happens, we just don't have the players to do it.
The mindsets of American sports fans and Europeans seem to be different regarding the acceptance of success or failure in a league/tournament. The European mindset seems to be a more realistic one, meaning that a coach or fan is more willing to say things like Jurgen said. Americans are more stubborn about such things, never wanting to admit we don't have a chance before something has started.
The massive gap in talent and money that exists on clubs/national teams across Europe vs the American style of salary cap leagues which create more parity is probably the reason for this dichotomy.

It's absurd. Look at quotes from at least 4 or 5 nba teams from before the season. They may couch it in phrases like "rebuilding mode" but the management and coaching staffs of those teams basically admit there's no way their winning an nba title
