Actually not too many people in Lafayette have a cajun dialect. You have to go out into rural Acadiana for that.

This.
Lafayette is big city and has lost a lot of Cajun dialect in the past 40 years. New Iberia still has it. But then, New Iberia is also a big city by Cajun standards. You need to go out to Lydia, Morbihan, Jeanerette and Loreauville to really hear it.

Go to Mire, Bosco, Duson, Church Point, etc if you want to here some cajun talk 'cher
