is that round trip?
if its not, its still cheaper to drive, also to note the time it takes to drive to houston from nola is the same amount of time it takes to leave your house to the time your walking out of Houston Intercontinental

I am from new orleans and live in Houston and this is laughable. This is coming from someone who drives in twice a month and flies a few times a year.

Southwest flies to Hobby which is near Reliant. With that said probably still same amount of time invested in flying as driving.

i can fly and be there in half the time including getting to the airport. The drive from nola-hou or hou-nola is a nightmare. While it should be 5 1/2hr it typically ranges from 6-8 depending on what city is fricked on that particular day. whether it be Metairie, BR, Laf, Lake Charles, Beaumont, or Houston. Someone is going to have a wreck

All of this. This drive is always royally f'd up somewhere.

Is one-way and equates to exactly the same cost if drive from NO. My post though is not a argument for driving vs flying to Hou, is FYI for anyone just going that Sat. obviously would need to fly. I will catch a concert Fri. night in Biloxi so it suits me fine!

No worries, I'm on a charter bus with a restroom and an ice chest of beer.

Just went to Houston this weekend.
Took 5 hours from NOLA to Houston on Friday morning, 5 hours from Houston to NOLA back Sunday night.
About 1 tank each way $42 times 2.
If you fly, you still have to rent a car in Houston.
$49 each way is a very good deal, but it's still much easier/cheaper to drive- unless you have someone picking you up in Houston.
I'll be driving there the Wisconsin weekend- Astros are playing the Rangers too!

Don't forget the fact that you don't have to do any of the driving.

While I usually opt for the driving over flying, I would take this deal right now. The only issue is that you have to go to Houston and that city sucks. It has some great aspects to it, but the negatives beat them out quickly.

Factor in the cost of renting a car in Houston or getting cabs.

Not even close. Five hours driving to the center of Houston if there is zero traffic. To fly, you leave your house in the GNO area one hour before flight time. Two and one half hours later you're walking out of Hobby. I go doorway to doorway from Old Metairie to my office west of Houston (Beltway) in three hours. And I do it about 35 times per year.
As to cost, if you drive a POS you can probably do it for $0.3 per mile. Those who think they can do it for less just don't understand the true costs. That's about $90 one way. If you have a carload of people, and don't mind the extra time, it's cheaper to drive.
