At face value I don't think Charcoal's is bad, plus it is kid friendly. Always easy to get a table for Sunday lunch! Of course I would rather go to Stein's but that's a different experience.
The boudin balls are terrible though, they really need to rework that recipe.

The ghost story is beyond tasteless. Vera was a real person--now that she's gone, how is it okay to appropriate her very real tragic death to promote your restaurant? I won't be eating at Charcoal. Tacky in the extreme.
