excluding our best pitcher in Nola.
I think he was the staff. It will be dependent on whether PM can manage a few or those highly ranked pitchers out of high school. We won't know what the hitting will be like until about the 40th game after PM has experimented with the lineup.
But we always meet a lower team every year with 25 outstanding pitchers who are better than us and players who cant make the higher ranked teams roster but beat us in most fazes of the game. Very puzzling.

Poche had a damn good year for a true freshman.

I have come to the conclusion that Mainieri is a coach that needs overwhelming talent to truly succeed. He is not going to out coach many when the chips are down.
That said, I also think that the years of unparalleled success this program had years ago has built a sense of entitled among the players.
That sense of entitlement seems to preclude the ability to play hard-nosed baseball similar to what we saw from Houston and what we saw from Stoney Brook a couple of years ago.
With that being the case, we should have pretty overwhelming talent at most positions next year. I think Poche will be fine as the Friday starter.
I think Bregman will return to his freshman form or beyond.
In short, I think this is a CWS team next year, but doubt they have the overwhelming talent to win it due to lack of pitching.
