yeah! Cause there's no way you could independently verify what he said.

Actually, according to your own link it is perfectly legal in Washington state to pay tipped employees below minimum wage - provided their tips make up the difference. To quote the part you missed:
So yes, she could have been telling the truth when she said she was only getting $7/hr plus tips. It's completely legal there.
quote:
Including tips and cash wages, all tipped employees must still earn at least the Washington Minimum Wage of $9.32 per hour. If a Washington employee does not earn at least $9.32 including tips in any given hour of work, their employer must make up the difference in cash.

Uh Oh. Looks like I chose the right person to believe.

Indeed. It gets better - it specifically guarantees a minimum wage in any given hour. So if Ms. Asian Lady's tips were enough between 2 and 3 pm she gets minimum wage for that. If someone tipped her $30 at 3:01pm the employer still pays her $7 on top of that.

It is not legal here. Try and keep up.

Again, from your buddy's LINK
quote:
Washington Tipped Wage Example:
Amy works in Washington as a waitress, and earns over $30 in tips a month. This hour, Amy earned $3.50 in tips. Her employer must pay her a cash wage of at least $5.82, to bring her total earnings for the hour up to the Washington minimum wage of $9.32. Annette, who also works as a waitress, earned $10.50 in tips this hour. Because she is already earning at least the minimum wage, her employer can pay her the Washington tipped minimum wage of $9.32 for this hour.
I'm just quoting from his link. Perhaps you'd care to read it?

Did foshizzel just school a bunch of dickheads about their own laws from the other side of the country?
This thread turned utterly stupid when a couple of jackasses started arguing the same arbitrary points they were critizing Laplace mike for.... And now, Boom! Totally were the pain of reading this thread

To be accurate, I pointed out that the link one of them posted contradicts his argument. It could be that the link is incorrect.
But at a minimum he posted without making sure it actually backs him up.

US Dept of Labor. Again. Because like I said, people pick out minutia to argue for the sake of arguing. Even though they are wrong. Huh La Place?

It doesn't say only full time workers. It doesn't say some workers that meet certain requirements. It says ALL tipped employees must earn $9.32 an hour. But hey- you believe what you want to believe why other posters shite logic turds all over you.
I have a question about this. I know in LA all tipped workers must make at least minimum wage including tips. If minimum wage isn't reached via tips then the employer has to make up the difference. Do you know if it is the same in WA?

You're butt hurt because I didn't say you were right. (For some reason you need my validation.) Instead I gave you my reason for why I didn't believe your first post. You just need to let it go.

Just saw what he posted after you quoted his angelfire looking website.
I thought this board was a little more intelligent than the rant. La Place would fit right in over there. Willful ignorance is bliss

Well, the Dept. of Labor website linked by YipSkiddlyDooo shows California as the same color as as Washington state, indicating that yes the law is the same.
So I guess his link must be wrong too.

The WA state labor and industry site is wrong too because La Place trusts third hand info from anonymous blog writers but not other anonymous posters
