The franchise sucked for years because he was such a tight wad but in the last 10 or so he's made a concerted effort to win...I think the old man desperately wanted an NBA title before he shucked his mortal coil.

The bigger winner in all this is Sterling's wife, not him.

Clearly Money is no issue for Ballmer. I wonder if he will spend another Billion, 2 or 3 does it matter for him, and move em. Build an arena in seattle and buy an NHL team. Why own the clippers who are a second tenant in LA?

He has stated he won't move the team. Clippers are in a position to become the best ticket in the best basketball market...Laker's are imploding.

For $4 billion (Market cap of NYSE:MSG), he could have bought Madison Square Garden Company which includes all of the following:
Madison Square Garden
New York Knicks
New York Rangers
Radio City Music Hall
Beacon Theatre
Chicago Theatre
The Great Western Forum
New York Liberty
Hartford Wolf Pack

Yep.
Lets recap: Sterling's name has been totally dragged through the mud, he is in the process of being kicked out of the NBA against his will, he has been ruled mentally unfit and now his wife has decided to sell his team and there's not much he can do about it. But yep, he definitely showed all of us!!!

Which is in a trust over which your soon to be divorced ex wife is the sole trustee.

This isn't some rags to riches story. Didn't he already have a billion fricking dollars?
