I was a dedicated CNN watcher (when I watched cable news) for years. I switched to Fox after the Boston bombings. During the Boston Bombing, CNN was carrying coverage outside their hotel miles away; Fox had cameras on scene.

Fox is the best source for news. Their affiliations with local news outlets allows them to get to the story faster than CNN. Plus, they cover stories like the IRS, NSA, Benghazi, AP, Fast and Furious, etc. If you watched CNN or MSNBC exclusively, you'd never know those things happened.

Is it biased? Sure, but less so than CNN/MSNBC. Also, people mistake the nightly programming (O'Reilly, Hannity, Kelly) for news programs; those are editorial shows.

Fox's biggest weakness is international coverage. They are very U.S.-centric. Best place to get overall news is news.google.com.

It's hit and miss. About 6 months ago there was a badass car chase in Denver. HLN had it live while Fox News was still yelling about Benghazi (probably). Car chases are Shep Smith's bread and butter but the network totally missed that one - it wasn't during his hour, but my point stands
