“He will appear once on Benghazi,” said State Department spokesperson Marie Harf. “They can work out in their caucus how they want to deal with this issue going forward.”

Hell, NC...Kerry was out of the direct loop anyway...no? Hillary is ground zero for Benghazi I reckon.

Kerry has relevance in only three areas with regard to Benghazi.
1.) The release of documents to Congress.
2.) Failure to discipline those identified by the ARB for "leadership and management deficiencies". (Clinton put them on paid leave before leaving her post, Kerry let them off the hook later.)
3.) A progress report on the recommendations of the ARB.
It's likely that #3 will continue to be monitored by the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which has jurisdictional oversight responsibilities for the State Dept. Kerry may try to focus on this in his responses to non-records-related questions. It's a "safe" area for him to discuss.
#2 will be addressed at some point by the Select Committee, not so much for those who WERE singled out, but for those State Dept. personnel who were NOT singled out for deficiencies. There is not much Kerry can add to that now.
#1 is the reason he was subpoenaed at this time. They are looking for a public clarification as to the State Dept's cooperation in releasing documents prior to the Select Committee starting its work. There has been a lot of correspondence between this committee and State regarding these documents and it has gone on for a very long time. Kerry will be put on the record in terms of his degree of cooperation with past requests and his intent on responding fully to future requests by Gowdy's committee.
And yes, if Gowdy's committee wants him to appear in the future on the document release issue, they will do what they have to do.
