I just personally enjoyed AS2 more. Can't really explain why, I like the heroes more though I think James McAvoy is amazing as a young Xavier and was amazing in this movie and Fassbender was really good. i thought the centralized Mystique plot was not very good though and I didn't think Lawrence held up her end of the movie.

I'm not taking a shite on this movie, I still thought it was solid but I thoroughly enjoyed Amazing Spiderman 2 which I didn't for DoFP.

All of this. There's a ton of "follow the critics" groupthink when it comes to ASM2. Comparing it to SM3 is a joke. SO MANY VILLAINS OMG. Except there weren't. There was one main villain for 80% of the movie. A secondary villain who shows up after the first for 19% of the movie. And a 3rd villain who shows up to do nothing other than hype the 3rd film. I was emotionally invested in ASM2 more.

McAvoy stole this show for me. He had a bunch of talent around him, and I left the theater thinking McAvoy just acted circles around the rest of the cast. In the end though, it's the same Marvel/Disney formula. They are only willing to get so dark in these movies and that detracts away from the movies some for me. I will by no means complain about this movie. I was entertained for over 2 hours and that's all I can ask. I just didn't leave the theater as pumped as I did for ASM2.

The scene between McAvoy and Stewart had my eyes misting. I'm not a big fan of "humanizing" superheroes and focusing on their faults... But seeing McAvoy going through that self-doubt and seeing Stewart counseling him... really moving.

I'd agree with this, he had the most to do.

But there wasn't a plot. It was just Spider-Man pissing people off for no real reason and then they do something at the end. Seriously, why not give the blood to his so-called best friend in order for him to survive? Electro had 0 motive for going after Spider-Man. Things just conveniently happened.

This film had a very easy to identify plot, we know the character's motives, there's a clear arc, and we know the consequences if they failed.
