To get this back on thread as opposed to arguing over the philosophy of pro/anti gun control, The Rise & Fall of The Third Reich is widely accepted by historians as one of the most definitive documentaries about Nazi Germany. And there is not one reference to gun control being a factor leading to the Holocaust. As well, being a huge WWII nut, I have read 1000's of books on that whole period. And I have never seen one reference in any of those books about this author's premise. And I own 4 guns & am a supporter of the Second Amendment. I just get frustrated with those that are this far out there being presented as representative of all of us who are sane & realistic about all the issues.

No.

The Turks disarmed the Armenians before conducting a sweeping Genocide.

Red China disarmed the population before Mao's Cultural Revolution killed 500,000.

The Soviets disarmed the population after the Bolshevik Revolution.

You could also add several countries that don't fit that agenda as well.

The point he's making isn't about the current anti-gun crowd. Nobody rational is saying that the current anti-gun crowd wants to disarm the American population and slaughter them.

History shows how anti-gun laws are used by evil people. The good intentions of big-hearted people often eventually lead to some crackpot murdering millions. You don't have to only trust government power with the current administration or people you trust. You have to trust that power to any random a-hole that would ever be elected or appointed.

You do realize the article you just linked to is written by the same guy in the OP, right?

Your link doesn't counter anything that has been posted here challenging the author's thesis.

Second Amendment enthusiasts will find this a fascinating book

If they want to hear a story they already believe in anyway. Seems like a waste of time.

Britain and Japan have more restrictive gun control laws than Nazi Germany ever did but so far as I know neither is currently implicated in genocides.

Equating modern day gun control proposals with Nazi Germany's laws to oppress Jews is absurd fodder meant satisfy the paranoid delusions of gun fetishists.

Again, no one is suggesting that every gun control initiative leads to genocide. But nearly every genocide begins with disarmament.
