It's weird because I can't find anyone who had him projected as a late-round pick, let alone a UDFA. Let's hope that gives him a chip on his shoulder because this guy looks like he has HUGE upside...
quote:
Strengths
Outstanding size and body length -- presents a big target. Long arms enable him to slap away and swim off the jam. Covers ground with long strides. Tracks over his shoulder. Can post up smaller defensive backs. Has playmaking ability -- averaged nearly 22 yards per catch and scored on one out of every five catches over three seasons. Has sheer size to shield as a blocker. Team captain.
Weaknesses
Not an elite athlete. Has some buildup -- does not accelerate off the jam. Lacks big-time, explosive speed to blow by cornerbacks. Route running needs refinement. Not a confident hands catcher -- lets throws into his body and drops balls he shouldn?t. Shows some stiffness through his torso and is linear after the catch -- gears down to cut and elusiveness is limited. Marginal special-teams utility.
Draft Projection
Rounds 3-4
Bottom Line
Big, tall, talented, West Coast receiver whose sheer size enables him to be effective outside the numbers, on slant routes and in the red zone, though inconsistency has prevented him from reaching his potential. Has the look of a No. 2 receiver, but his production fell off as a junior (played through a knee injury). He could have used another season to polish his skills.

Seems we drafted a couple of team captains?

This was my favorite WR in the draft. Who doesn't draft a 6-6 4.52 with great hands and good after the catch runs? Glad we got him

Damn, dude has a pretty supportive family.
Nice place he grew up in, too.

Everyone does. But Coleman's hands are far from great.

He was pretty inconsistent at rutgers, he would disappear for stretches of time. Now, rutgers qbs sucked his whole career, im really rooting for the kid and hope he makes the final roster.

What can you tell us about his catching ability?
Everyone here keeps talking about his hands. Does he have the dropsies?

I wonder if someone put out lowlite reels on every player every year

Everyone catches 100% of passes in their videos

Didn't watch Rutgers much but he looks like a wr not a tweener wr/te. I was liking the guy when I heard the size/speed of him but I seen him now he looks to be a great add

One of the turn offs on Lee's reel was a lot of his catches were into the body.
And thats why Cooks looked so good in his. All hands!

I wouldnt say he had dropsies, but like any receiver, theres been balls he shouldve caught and didnt.
Playing with shitty qbs doesnt help, and the instability of the position his whole career at rutgers.
I think the lingering effects from his knee injury are what kept him from being drafted.
I truly think he can make a difference on the saints this season.
