Airlines credit cards: Delta, American or Southwest??

Need to get a new credit card and I would like to earn some travel or airlines miles. Now that I'm living in a bigger city, I have an airport that has Southwest. Which card has the best options? Delta, AA or Southwest?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The better question is which airline will you be flying the most.
That can break down into further questions.
Which Airline do you like the best?
Which Airline's fly out of your local airport?
Of the Airline's that fly out of your local airport, which service the destinations you are most likely to travel to.
Consider do they have flights straight through or will you have to take connections each time.
The answer to the above questions will help you out more in determining the card you want than which offers 2% rather than 3%

Living closer to hobby than any other airport made it easy for me, southwest.

I fly southwest once or twice a month. Very well priced, and a well ran organization. Rapid rewards are good and offer nice perks too.

FTR, my airport is Birmingham, AL.
I've never flown Southwest, only experience with American and Delta, both of which have been just fine. Flying would be to any major destination, Houston, Denver, NYC, etc... so I'd have to connect expect for Southwest to Denver and NYC. I already 40,000 with American, so I'm leaning to stay with them but wanted to check my options.

Depends on where you are flying to and from the most. What's the main airline out of your airport? That's really the only way to look at it because there's no point in getting a CC for an airline that'd you'd barely use.

If this is just for limited personal travel (1-4x yr) just get the Barclay arrival card

Airport is Birmingham, which our top airline is Southwest, with Delta 2nd. I've never flown Southwest, which I suppose is my only concern. Southwest flies everywhere I can think I would ever want to fly to in the US.

Southwest is a good airline, I wouldn't let never having used them stop you from getting a SW CC if that's what you will be flying more often than not.

Don't get an airline card. You can get a regular credit card and earn miles to use on any airline. I have a capital one professional reward card. No fees and double miles on every purchase.
To redeem you just purchase ticket with your card then redeem your miles at a later time. It's the tits!

It is. Fly out to Colorado to ski once a year and throw in a random trip or two and that would be it.

I did this about 6 months ago. If you spend $2000 in the first three month you get the 50,000 points. Since its a Chase card and I already bank with Chase, it was simple. I'd buy everything on my card and just transfer the funds from checking to the card every few days or so. Got the points without running up a balance at all.
They advertise that the 50K points is enough for 2 round trip tickets anywhere in the Continental US and I've found that if you're cool with the 'just get away' ticket, than its good for at least 3 tickets. Not a bad deal at all.

I put almost all purchases on the card and the miles add up pretty quickly.

Not that I expect you to care, but I have an irrational hatred for this phrase.

Out of curiosity, are you able to combine the miles built on that card with current miles on your account? Any sort of miles or cash fee when using the miles on the airline you choose?

Stop trying to get rid of your baller card
ETA: OP I would go with the Chase Sapphire or the Barclay Arrival card that golfer mention. That way you do not limit your options for the one time a year you fly
