Yup, most PMP holders are ignorant. There are a few PMP holders that are good PMs, but not many. I've been kicking around getting mine for a couple years, mainly to make our proposals more appealing to possible clients.

I got mine after being in the same field for 12 years. I got to a point that I was topped out in the position/company I was at and needed something to set me apart from the others. Got a job last year at around a 40% increase in salary over where I was. For me it was about showing commitment in what I was doing and a want to better my career, it seems to have worked.
