Seriously. .. what does Javier have that keeps him safe?
Tonight's not necessarily on him but he is a huge liability

Two aces. Not being sarcastic but we face good hitting teams. Two pitchers who can go deep would be great. More extra base hits.

I haven't been following too closely until just recently, but it looks like the team is just having one of those years where it's hard to fill so many roles.
Look at the lineup. There isn't a whole lot of experience to anchor the hitting, with the only 3 players with 2 letters being Moore, Sciambra, & Foster, none of which is really a huge contributor on offense this year.
Recruiting in college baseball is always hit or miss from year to year, and there are some good newcomers this year, but mainly, Mainieri just needs to work on reloading the talent with recruiting again... same as always.
I also think Javi is a real problem, but that's been discussed to death, so there's really not much more to say about it.
EDIT: Like others have said, getting another couple of weekend starters for next season would be nice.

Where do we rank in the SEC in hitting?

Need a 1st baseman. Hale is a 2nd baseman and Scivicque and Moore are catchers. Hale made 2 errors on pick off throws last night and if Scivicque fields the grounder in the 8th he cuts down the runner at the plate.
Secondly, need to have a better approach at the plate. We don't hit well blame Javi or blame the kids but we just don't get it sometimes. Shorten up your swing poke a ball throught the infield. If a pitcher has thrown 6 straight balls for the love of god don't swing at the next one in your eyes.
Finally, try pulling a pitcher before he gives up a big hit. It was pain as day Bugg was missing high on everything tonight. Go get his arse before he serves up a HR to a fricking .200 pinch hitter.

I haven't looked in over a week, but here's the link to SECSports.com page that shows it: LINK.
These were last updated after the Ole Miss series, but it has LSU at #13 of 14 in batting average at .229, and at #9 of 14 in runs scored at 71.
LSU was also #4 in ERA at 3.28, and #3 in runs allowed at 68.
EDIT: Conner Hale actually has the highest SEC average on the team at .286.

Next season should see offense return to some extent for the tigers. Hale, Fraley, Stevenson, Sevique (I know sp), all return with good bats. No way Bregs struggles next year. Robertson returns a year older, and we have a stud class coming in. The question will be pitching. Can Pochebe an ace? Who gets the ball Saturday? Who gets the last 3 outs?
So what do we need?
1-2 pitchers to step up
A true 1B with pop
A few of the fresh to grow into solid players
ETA: it can't be overstated how important Ibarra's D is at 3rd. We'll need someone to fill that role

With such a terrible sec batting average,a decent hitting coach plus a better recruiter who can see talent.

We need both Russell Reynolds and Hunter Newman healthy...we are missing them so much this year. Poche would be at best our Sunday night starter if they were both healthy.
