Those Ugly Toe/Barefoot Shoes

First of all, these are the most hideous things god ever invented, and anyone wearing them should be ridiculed.
That said, I'm looking at buying some. Over the past several years, I've begun to develop plantar fasciitis. I think wearing these shoes, which is basically like going barefoot, will help.
So, have any of you worn any of these ugly-arse things? Any recommendations? I'm not a runner. I'm looking for some to wear on hikes/walks/around the yard. Right now I'm leaning toward the original vibram five fingers. I think the toe ones might be better than the "minimalist" shoes with enclosed toes. Plus, if I'm going ugly, I should go all out.

I read the title as "The Ugly Toe/Barefoot Shot" and was coming in here to talk about it and how i agree people should be covering those ugly-arse toes before taking pictures of kayaks, fish, etc.
But that's not what we're talking about here but maybe it's time we should....
IMO foot ware should be functional before it's fashionable, so get you some ugly arse shoes if they'll help your feet.

Not really sure why you would think this. You should look for a pair of shoes that actually give your foot more support, not go barefoot and have no support.

If you want barefoot shoes just get a regular minimalist shoe. I'm partial to the New Balance minimus line. They are available in 4mm and 0 drop

Well, plantar fasciitis is caused by inflamation of the fascia on the bottom of the foot. So, it makes sense to get better support, right? Well, that's the usual treatment. But, what really causes that inflammation? What if it's because we walk around in shoes all the time and the fascia grows so stiff and inflexible that any time we use it a lot, it gets inflamed? I'm going to try to get my feet healthy, strong, and flexible instead of just trying to treat the symptoms.

Ive gone through this and am struggling with this as we speak (or type). I hope you plan on going through alot of pain before you actually get your foot strong enough to support walking (miles, not just to the fridge) without any type of shoe assistance. I know what youre goin through and it sucks. If I go one day without wearing the proper shoes with the proper support, Im fricked for 2 wks. I get your logic, but dont think itll work. Ive tried it already. Good luck if you try it and hope it works for you.

Well, mine is in the very early stages. In fact, I haven't seen a doctor at all, but I have the symptoms. But the pain is not unbearable at this point. It's usually just first thing in the mornings, or if I walk a lot, then sit and cool down. I'm just trying to fix it before it gets worse.
