Like many are having to do with Obamacare ... pediatrics and maternity/OB for men, the barren and the elderly?

quote:

I live a very simple life that I can afford (kinda)... fortunately... I live this life in a area I can afford it in even though I barely make ends meet.. And I don't even have kids, or expensive rent... How the frick would I make it on this type of pay elsewhere I don't know... especially if I had a kid... even if I made another 5 bucks an hour.

I'm not a communist, but I do think the wealth distribution is a major issue...

See, that's what's good about freedom. You are absolutely free to change jobs, get more training, move somewhere else if necessary.

Is it hard? Yes, sometimes. I've been there. You might not even like your new job. But you have the freedom to choose whether to live like you do now, or upgrade to afford children, etc.

It is not the job of the government (or the taxpayers) to give you the money/things you want. It's your job to do that.

You talk about morals. IMO it's immoral to take from those who have done the work to get to where they are, and give the gains to someone who hasn't. (This should not be construed to mean that people in need should not be helped. But the help should go to those who can't help themselves, not to the don'ts and won'ts).

You seem to be in a blue mood, all this talk of dying and destitution. Hope it lifts soon. Get a little sunshine today; it works wonders.

I don't think you understand at all, I have (or at least had, I'm way out of practice with math) the ability and knowledge to be an electrical engineer, I got a scholarship to a good university made it to my senior year, and was working in the business and realized I fricking hated it. For a long time I did struggle with depression, cause I felt like I was supposed to work this certain job so my parents would think I became what they dreamed, etc. Then I started bartending and realized I loved it.. The money was pretty good, I enjoyed the atmosphere, but I knew I couldn't do it forever... The job I'm doing now I love, it's working at a liquor store, it's my second most favorite job I've ever had.

I don't really won't kids, they are ok to be around, and I'm sure I would love them if I had them, but I've never felt an overbearing need to have them.

You think it's a immoral to take from those that have done the work to get where they are, but I don't necessarily think that's the case with america anymore.. It used to be, when you could get a job without a college degree and work your way up the ladder. Or own a small business, etc. Very hard to do nowadays, almost everyone wants you to have a degree or experience. You think all these well-off folks work so hard... Well if that's the case why do we have so many NSFW threads.. I bet 90% of regular posters on TD do it from work... And that's just TD, what about pinterest? etc...

Meanwhile, a lot of people that do really work hard, waitresses, mechanics, the guy at lowe's, sam's, target, wal-mart, publix, and every other fricking chain out there don't have time to play on the internet at work. Many don't get benefits, paid leave, vacation time, etc. Or can't afford to get them if offered Yet they are pretty much slaves so a lot of these OT ballers can get stuff cheap enough to have a Baller house while they sit on their arse at work and play on the net 1/3 of the day.

Most people really have no idea, don't care to think about it, or are too greedy to worry about it.

If half of the people working in the (what are they called) 47%ers got a job that paid in the upperclass areas where would all these jobs come from?

Everyone thinks if you work hard, you'll get a better job or a raise... But for the most part people in this country from top to bottom don't know what hard work really is. If managers at these chains did their jobs better the company's could pay their employee's more.. But the managers that do their jobs better get bonuses, while the low level employee's don't get raises, or at least not much of one even if they had to work harder for their manager to get that bonus.
