quote:

It isn't a direct link to bad parenting, but can be symptomatic of it. That coupled with his very storied and publicly documented over obsession with the 'game' would substantially suggest more tangible derivation of the notion that Saban is a bad parent versus your abstract sensory interaction derivation that he is a good one. You can't be an obsessive perfectionist in one area of your life, and be truly successful at another. He chooses 'the game' to throw all his time and energy at. His need to feel important and legacy is sourced through national media and shiny trophies instead of love from his own family. It's actually sad and pathetic, but not nearly as pathetic as how many people idolize him for it. A very telling symptom of a ugly sickness thriving in today's society

I didn't read this before I posted, but this goes hand in hand with what I said, just from a different angle... Well said my friend

Agreed. I was just about to quote, and agree with your previous post as I read this.

By the specificity of your post, it should be clear to all the validity of your stated sources.

How people can't see that this man is more than his win/loss record eludes me.

Off the top of my head alone:

Kissing pigs and scaling buildings for charity
April fools joke in big cat drill/ also confetti wind vector changes due to stadium addition
Dancing with team to Harlem Shake
Video he made of basketball game with his family in response to svps shoe gift
Hilarious post bama game comments about hot girls walking in disrupting him
His guiltless admission of eating grass as a superstitious ritual
His unique loyalty to his staff, allowing them to save face by finding other work instead of being fired
The very entertaining post interview when a kick was returned last minute to put us over the top of ole miss
The passion in his defense of his team during the have a nice day interview before the sec champ game in 07
His enraged and protective defense of media members calling out Russell Shepard.
The ole miss 4 minute left mercy kneel
Countless more

This guy doesn't just teach 105 kids football a year. He is a symbol of much more.

He does not cater to the media, in fact, he sometimes openly trolls them.

When dirtbag bobby Petrino told him to F off during the post game shake, miles slyly smiled it off. When Dooley ran off the field without shaking miles hand during the wild Tennessee game, miles chased him down to shake his hand.

He is who he is, openly and with pride. That person is a great family man, he is honest, passionate, and openly flawed. And what's crazy is, he is ok with coming off flawed.

It gives everyone else the permission to follow suit and not care what people say when your heart is in the right place. He rolls with the punches, keeps his head about him, falls on the sword for his players/staff, and is the definition of class in a world where that trait becomes more and more scarce by the day.

He wins where it really counts, in life.
