If Monty shits the bed next year, Davis is gone. There's no way he resigns. I'd bet my house on it.
You may want to re-consider the bet. As I understand the current CBA, AD can and will be extended (unless someone is an idiot). No team can match. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would love to have another coach who I'm confident would be produce better results next year. Who's available.
I'm very skeptical of Monty being the guy to take the team to the promised land, believe me.

Then why is LeBron still not in Cleveland? Howard still not in Orlando? Melo still not in Denver? AD can just choose not to negotiate in his final year, wait for FA and go be a Knick with Phil. And you Monty apologists will be all "Oh, no. What happened?"

go look how long each of those guys were with their 1st team

AD will become a restricted FA. We will match. But it won't get to that. He will sign an extension before it gets to that.

LINK according to this 2015 is club option and 2016 he becomes RFA. So the only way AD doesn't play here for his 2nd contract is if we don't offer him or we don't match. The decision is 100% not his.
quote:not how RFA works bro

so much incorrectness in one statement

My favorite part is that the Monty apologists, following AD's departure, will apparently look around clueless and wonder where AD went.

quote:I enjoy every part of the statement. beginning with using 3 examples who all signed an extension with their original team to the AD gonna leave in FA even though he will be restricted

The more appropriate example is not LeBron or Melo but Eric Gordon. Ask yourself why in the hell is Eric Gordon still a Pelican? This is how it works.
Rookies typically play for 4 years before getting their 2nd contract. When the time comes for their 2nd contract they are RESTRICTED Free Agents, not Unrestricted Free Agents, that freedom doesn't come until their 3rd contract. In Anthony Davis' case he is going to get an extension offer like Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin got, around 5 years $95 million. He will happily sign that meaning it's not time to panic until he has about 2 years left on that deal. Basically the team has about 5 more years to get the team in place before it's time to start worrying. Teams have 9 total years of control, but if they screw it up things start falling apart around year 7.
