Give me a minute Scruffy, I gotta piss...
The fruit slicers idea I was designing and talking about was something that would be used on a "industrial grade" level.. you know like one that restaurants use. They pay out the arse for those things.. $100 bucks for an industrial grade tomato slicer is pretty cheap... but I could buy it (or at least it's parts) from China for about $2... and then I can sell it for $100 to restaurants in the US or even worldwide... Why can't I (or don't I) buy it, or at least it's parts from a U.S. company?

And I'm confused. This makes all fruit slicers expensive how? Are there no cheaper fruit slicers? Are they all $100? Should they all be $2?

quote:Dude, you can. No one is stopping you. If you have issues with overseas businesses paying their workers less, don't use them. You can get them made in the states and you could even sell them for the same price as those made in China, but your profits will be lower.

And on top of that, government regulations are the reason the price difference is so large.
That is how the game works. The goal is to make a profit. Period.
You want to serve some noble ideal of supporting people here, more power to you, but realize it has a price. It always has. Noble ideals always come with a price.
