I remember when I read about some states not allowing obamacare because the politicians in the state didn't like it. Sorry you live in an arse backwards state because that is the problem here.

You have no idea what the frick you are talking about. Politicians cannot prevent a federal law going into effect in their state.

Have you seen the costs to the states in about 5 years? Maybe do a little research before laughing...

It's a federal program. How can it not be in all 50 states?

How can a state prevent the implementation of a federal law? You are the epitome of a low-information voter.

He's talking about the Medicaid expansion which would expand Medicaid benefits to a larger pool of people. States ha the option whether to comply or not. The federal government picks up 93% of the tab for 10 years. However, that can change with a single Congressional vote or executive order.

24 states including Louisiana have rejected the expansion. From Louisiana's perspective, the state simply could not afford it without heavy federal subsidization. If the Feds changed the reimbursement rate, it would mean financial disaster for the state.

I know what he's talking about, but that is not the entirety of the law. To say that politicians are preventing the implementation of Obamacare due to them denying the expansion of Medicaid is misleading at best. I think the poster in question is just too stupid to understand the difference.

Why are you, a seemingly reasonably intelligent fellow (in spite of your Bama heritage) hanging around at one-third the pay, no OT and no growth future?

Why are you willingly a victim? Don't kid yourself. You are complicit in the current state of your affairs. If this position has a value of $8.50 an hour, it is because You did not stand up and say, "No!" when they offered you the job. Do you think that company is the only one doing this?

I would start a small business if it was my choice and I wasn't afraid. I would start a business in which I could live comfortably on, pay my employees well and live and die.. But I'm scared to now. I've done it and been put out of business within three years.. I thought about starting a barbeque restaurant in this stretch in which no BBQ places were on a highway in which I knew there was a demand for it... One year later a chain BBQ place called Rick's BBQ sits within 1/2 mile of where I thought about starting it. And a guy that started a small business there called "smoking on the boulevard" which only operates on the weekends will probably go out of business because of Rick's.

Maybe I'm a pussy, but you have to take risks to get a reward.. I've done it once, not sure I'll do it again. And yes, I will eventually say no to my current boss and that i deserve more... and people like me doing so will probably eventually put her out of business. I work at a liquor store though... so laws (on who and where you can sell liquor and beer), location, and convenience help it survive. If walmart starts selling liquor though and the county in which the city I live in goes wet... the business I work for is fricked.

So...you are too scared to take a risk yet you blame those that did take a risk and made it. Have I summed up the thread correctly?

I probably am illegible for some things that I don't know about, and I'm going to look into all of them.. like I said, this thread isn't just about me... it's just me using my situation to explain things to others...

The world has changed ALOT in the last 200 years or so, and keeps changing even faster every day... Some people just can't keep up. I believe in evolution, if this is what kills off the poor, takes down our country, etc.. then fine.. but I'd rather things not go down like that...

I'm like Lewis C.K. "Of course... Of course if a kid has a nut allergy we should be aware and the people that cook the food should be responsible after being informed.... but maybe.... maybe.... if we let that kid with nut allergies die then nut allergies would go away." It's a sick point of view, but one I believe is true... Besides, the human genome project is gonna change the whole world.... hold on tight folks... we are about to go on a ride.

Somewhat.. I don't completely blame those that took a risk and made it... I'm actually impressed by their risk taking and ability to succeed... but at the same time their greed is so great I almost despise them... There's plenty to go around, just don't be greedy and share... OR!!!! just let me live and die... quit imposing rules in which I can't do what I want and do what I need to do... for example work over 40 hours a week or not have health insurance. I can't even raise my kids the way I want to, I have to wear a seat belt, a helmet on a motorcycle, my kids have to ride in a certain type of seat until they are old enough to ride a roller coaster. It's fricking ridiculous.

Again, everything you are bitching about stems from the government. Literally everything in that last post.
